Is There Any Reason to Believe in God?

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

Dr. Tim Keller pastors Redeemer Church, a congregation with 6,000 active members, in downtown Manhattan. Keller is passionate about social justice, mercy ministries and apolgetics.  His passion for all-things God has led him to engage secular skeptics using Van Til’s presuppositional apologetic, possessing a forte’ in challening postmodern thinking.  It is perhaps for this reason that his congregation is filled with 20-30 somethings, former atheists and agnostics, who have converted to Christ under his ministry insights.  His new book, The Reason for God, is a must read for anyone interested in knowing how to present God in the 21st century.  You’ll quickly find that Keller doesn’t think Christians should avoid the difficult questions offered by insightful pagans.  In fact, his perspective is that only Christianity can answer the questions that unbelievers sincerely ask.  In the book, Keller also provides Christians with every reason to rejoice in our God Who is Truth and the Alph and Omega of all reasoning.

No time to read?  Then listen to The Reason for God on 7 MP3 downloads.  Evidently, these sermons formed the basis for Keller’s book. The book is one of 2008’s absolute must reads!  The sermons are priceless for anyone who loves God with their mind.

Church Discipline: The Missing Key to True Church Growth

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Seveal deacons and I have been privileged for the last few days to sit under the teaching ministry of Jay Adams and Paul Washer as we have listened to the biblical doctrine of church discipline being taught.  Thus far it has been two days of singing, sharing and weeping.  We serve a great God Who deserves a pure church passionate about genuinely representing Him on the earth.  He is holy and righteous and so should the church be also.  May God grant to Heritage a purity that gains God’s power in our own lives and on the church corporately.  May He be glorified in our humility and holiness.
