Is There Any Reason to Believe in God?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Reggie @ 2:42 pm

Dr. Tim Keller pastors Redeemer Church, a congregation with 6,000 active members, in downtown Manhattan. Keller is passionate about social justice, mercy ministries and apolgetics.  His passion for all-things God has led him to engage secular skeptics using Van Til’s presuppositional apologetic, possessing a forte’ in challening postmodern thinking.  It is perhaps for this reason that his congregation is filled with 20-30 somethings, former atheists and agnostics, who have converted to Christ under his ministry insights.  His new book, The Reason for God, is a must read for anyone interested in knowing how to present God in the 21st century.  You’ll quickly find that Keller doesn’t think Christians should avoid the difficult questions offered by insightful pagans.  In fact, his perspective is that only Christianity can answer the questions that unbelievers sincerely ask.  In the book, Keller also provides Christians with every reason to rejoice in our God Who is Truth and the Alph and Omega of all reasoning.

No time to read?  Then listen to The Reason for God on 7 MP3 downloads.  Evidently, these sermons formed the basis for Keller’s book. The book is one of 2008’s absolute must reads!  The sermons are priceless for anyone who loves God with their mind.

  1. Just listened to Keller’s “Exclusivity”. Wow, that was good. And I know good stuff; I hear it at least once a week two stone’s throws from my house.

Keller’s assertion that Christianity is the one set of exclusive beliefs (atheism is an incredibly arrogant exclusive belief system) that produces humility/love/peace with those of other beliefs and therefore the most beneficial to society was right on. Not only did it remind me that my stance (though it is one of truth versus non-truth) is not one of superiority but humility, in-so-doing it reminded me that my stance is the one that forms the best society and out to be shared openly with those who do not believe it.

Well-reasoned, insightful, linkworthy. Thanks for sharing, Pastor.
